One Million ECGs Recorded with the AliveCor® Heart Monitor

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. July 17, 2014AliveCor, Inc. announced today that more than one million ECGs have been recorded using the AliveCor® Heart Monitor since the first ECG was recorded in January 2013. This significant and steady data flow reiterates the company’s focus on the importance of data collection for heart health research. Anonymized and aggregated data from users can contribute to developing personalized insights that will help both patients and caregivers better manage and control their heart health. Additionally, there has been a 1000% percent increase in overall recordings since last year.

“The AliveCor Heart Monitor has provided me with a sense of empowerment as I can use the device to monitor my heart anywhere and at anytime,” said Lisa Vasquez, an AliveCor patient with atrial fibrillation. “Having the ability to share my ECGs with my healthcare provider and get immediate feedback has helped me better understand and take control of my own heart health.”

“We are proud that we have reached this latest milestone. The secure data we have collected has been able to help us better understand cardiac health as we continue to innovate the AliveCor Heart Monitor,” said Euan Thomson, president and chief executive officer at AliveCor. “It is our hope that as we continue to research and develop new insights we can provide more patients and caregivers comprehensive information that will enable them to more fully understand and manage their heart health.”

The AliveCor Heart Monitor is the only FDA cleared mobile ECG recorder that supports both iPhone and Android mobile devices. It records, displays (when prescribed or used under the care of a physician), stores, and transfers single-channel ECG rhythms wirelessly, using the free AliveECG app. With secure storage in the cloud, users can access their data confidentially anytime, anywhere, and can grant access to their physician. The Heart Monitor is available for purchase in the United States, the United Kingdom and Ireland by health professionals and consumers.

The AliveCor Heart Monitor’s medical grade ECG recordings can also be shared directly with a physician, or sent to a U.S. board-certified cardiologist or a U.S. based cardiac technician through a cloud-based ECG analysis service provided by AliveCor. In as little as 30 minutes users can receive expert reviews of their ECGs directly through the free AliveECG app providing a more complete picture of their current heart health.
